Today has been the day he's been waiting for, the day Hanseol actually counted down the seconds until it reached 12 am earlier today. A Friday too, nonetheless; coincidentally his favorite day of the week. Fridays always meant the Celestial could check out early since it's a half-day work for him. It was a good perk that he enjoyed very much. That wasn't all, today is 14th of February 2020, which is Valentine's Day and approximately marks their 1st year anniversary. It felt like it was just yesterday when they first officially announced their relationship. And it was on this very date last year that Han remembered they had shared a rather sweet kiss under the rain, despite the weather ruining their amusement park date. Nevertheless, they were able to continue the celebration once they got home.
He shouldn't be taking a day off today, if Jae found out that's what he did just so he could properly plan out their itinerary for the special day, the dhampir could quite literally have his head. He would do well not to trifle with a pissed off Jae because that was asking for a death wish and he certainly didn't have any of those hence why he had kept it a whole secret. Jae mustn't know he's at home trying to plan the day instead of working in his office at the clinic. He pretended to go out early as if he was checking in for work today, just before Jae went off for his class. Unbeknownst to the dhampir, Han was actually doing some grocery shopping at the supermarket. Hanseol was a simple soul, if things were possible that way, he wouldn't want to go out at all.
The dates were cute and satisfactory but he loves spending time with Jae indoors, preferably inside their humble abode most of all. He'd rather cook them dinner instead of having to dine outside with a bunch of reservations being made. What comes from the heart is what truly matters, and Han surely can make do with such a concept given the time. The male may have had an eye out for the dhampir's schedule today so he would know when Jae would come back but he couldn't do much if the other male were to come home early. He's been cleaning the entire house today and he was currently rereading the recipe written down on the book he's holding.
The doe-eyed Celestial wasn't the best cook but he is indeed the cook out of the two of them and when he likes doing something, he usually excels at them. What better way to show his appreciation by trying to cook something for his boyfriend on their anniversary that ironically fell on Valentine's Day? Han couldn't get anymore cheesier. He had an apron tied properly around his waist and sleeves rolled up neatly to reveal his arms while whistling the same tune of the music that blared in the kitchen. All the ingredients were set in place and the decorations were done prior to his cooking which was meant to be the last measure. The flower petals that were supposed to lead Jae were scattered properly as the Celestial danced to the music playing, with a spatula on his right hand and mixer on his left.

He chuckled under his breath and shrugged, Han was cute when he was protective over Jae “I don’t know, kids thought it was kinda girly to read them” it never stopped him anyway, Jae was the kind of kid in school that did what he wanted regardless of what people said and was friends with whoever he wanted to be friends with, a bit of a clown you could say, he was always joking and making jokes out of himself so if others teased him then he would just shrug it off. “Don’t worry it never stopped me” he commented and smiled, he supposed he was strong in that sense “I think we know between us you get the romantic gold medal though, I swear I’ve never seen someone so excited about cheesy things as you” he reached out and tapped Han’s nose gently with his fingertip “I’m convinced you’re trying to become Mr. Darcy” he commented and smirked, he liked teasing Han sometimes.
It was an interesting question for Han to ask, now that he had experienced love, did it match to what he expected it to be “It’s...different than I thought it would be” he admitted with a soft smile “I guess I pictured love as changing everything...you know like the defining moment in your life where you choose a partner and everything changes but...it’s not like that” which wasn’t him trying to say he thought any less of Han “It’s more... an extension of my life which just makes sense, I don’t feel like I need to give up who I am for it or change a thing because it fits...it feels right” he blushed softly and smiled at Han “It made me feel comfortable to be the person I am and have someone...feel like that’s enough” his gaze softened “What about you? You never expected to fall in love right?” they never intended to start a relationship, they were friends but then it became more without him even trying.
When Han complimented his writing ideas Jae smiled “Exactly...something people can relate to and perhaps even see themselves in, but also something interesting they won’t expect” he laughed under his breath “It’s going to take a lot of work to come up with an idea which will work for that” he scratched at the back of his neck, but he was determined to make it happen. Jae was happy in the relationship they shared, he loved having someone who supported him in a way no one else had before, Han always believed in him without fail and that pushed Jae further “I know” he spoke softly when Han said he would always have his back, the star wasn’t the only reason Jae pushed forward, but it definitely helped to have his support.
Jae’s expression softened as he looked back at Han and smiled, he was so proud of him for starting to believe in himself, for branching out in his work, being so sweet and thoughtful with animals, for becoming someone Jae could rely on, a partner “I’m proud of you” he spoke softly “I’m proud of us” he added and smiled, they had come so far already “I’m proud that we managed to work through our differences and now we’re here...still together” it certainly wasn’t perfect but they worked on this together, every day. “I like to think so” he responded when Han asked if distance could be impactful on their relationship “It’s just another challenge to overcome” he smiled, his thumb trailing over the back of Han’s hand.
He smiled when Han seemed excited about being able to go to the beach “Not really..you know me, I never ask for much” all he wanted was to be with the star and for them to be happy “What about you? There must be something in that head of yours waiting to pop out” he knew Han was the type to picture many things.
“Well if people thought it was girly, why not? Why do we have to conform ourselves to what they think? You know, if you ask someone, they also think gay is an insult but is it really?” he chuckled and ruffled his hair gently, “Maybe they’re just jealous because you’re a lot prettier than their average girl” he teased and tilted his head to the side while siding him up, “Yep, you look prettier than any girls I’ve met. Beautiful man.” Han wouldn’t know much about how a person would act in school because when he came to the world, he was already a grown teenager and he wasn’t given the chance to further his studies anywhere due to his background. For a runaway, he hardly doubted anyone would offer him education. “I do like Mr Darcy” he quipped sheepishly, he’s read Pride and Prejudice a lot, though he wasn’t as big of a book enthusiast as Jae, he’s read this and that. It was hard not to read them when Jae keeps those books lying around.
“Why? Are you willing to be my Bennet?” Gender roles be damned. His answer was not what he expected but Jae had worded it so eloquently, Han was actually staring at him with so much fondness, When he was asked if he ever expected himself to fall in love, Han shook his head with a soft smile, “No, it was never in the plans for me. I fell to their earth 90 years ago and I was raised in a good household for about 3 months. Then I had to run for my life, preservation at its finest. When we came here, I expected to be faced with a few difficulties and I was… but then I met you and I just couldn’t understand what it was about you that I love so much. You were so nice and kind… so humble. It felt as if you were going to help me through everything I face, my friend that became the moon in my night.” He meant every word of it.
“When you kissed me… I was… so surprised. I knew what it was but I never expected to be greeted with one. I was so flustered I hoped you forgive me for not responding fast enough” he fiddled with his fingers nervously. He probably shouldn’t have frozen on the spot but he did. “Take your time… enjoy your life. You’re doing so well, one day you will succeed, Jae. And I will be there for every step of the way.” The dhampir saying he’s proud of him and them both, made him grin so wide. “We are here because we worked through it,” he murmured gently. The fact that Jae was able to unravel him easily by just trailing his thumb against his hand gave him every indication that the younger male loved him. “I wanted to go to New Zealand… it’s such a good and peaceful place. I think I’ll be able to ignite my muse better too. You could be my model and we can doing some adventurous activities together, bungee-jumping sound okay to you? Hiking? What would you do if we go there?”
He loved how open and unfitting to stereotypes Han was, the fact he responded to the suggestion of acting girly like that, was exactly one of the reasons he fell so hard for him, he didn’t have any prejudices others had, because of the way he had been raised Jae was sure “If it’s an insult then they can insult me all they like, because I would be gay for you 1000 times over” he chuckled and smiled, Han always knew how to make him feel better about something. Jae sighed and shook his head when Han ruffled his hair “That doesn’t give you an excuse to mess up my hair” he commented with a chuckle and attempted to flick it back into place.
Of course Han was a fan of Pride and Prejudice “Sure” he responded without hesitation, it was one of the greatest romance novels and to be likened to it was definitely one of the biggest compliments. He went quiet as he listened to Han talk about his experience of finding love and the dhampir had this stupid smile on his lips the whole time, it was truly interesting how they had both found one another at a time when neither of them expected to and somehow it had worked so well. He felt his heart swelling in his chest at the way Han described it and how important it made him feel “I think we were both what the other needed at the time” he spoke softly “Someone we could latch onto...you to pour all of that love you have overflowing...me to find someone who believed in me when no one else did” he nodded slightly, they were really good for each other, he was sure of that.
Jae laughed under his breath “Honestly... I didn’t even go with the intention of kissing you...I just had all these frustrations and...it happened” he blushed softly, it wasn’t until that exact moment that he finally understood why he felt so different around Han and then he kissed him and suddenly it all made sense to him “And then you didn’t kiss me back and I swear for about 2 seconds there I was in full panic mode” and then Han had kissed him and the rest was history. “I love that I believe you when you say that” that he had time to figure this all out and that he would do so, it was an important revelation and something that had taken him time to come to terms with after being told for all his life that his choices would never lead to anything good. He smiled when Han mentioned he wanted to go to New Zealand “I heard it’s really cold there” he commented and smiled “Bungee-jumping sounds very you” he commented and chuckled, Han was such a daredevil “Maybe camping? We could make a campfire and toast marshmallows” he grinned, it sounded like fun, though albeit not quite as adventurous as Han’s suggestion.
Since Han never really got an education about how people viewed the different sexualities they have today, the Celestial had close to no experience when it comes to seeing others as a whole other identity because of their sexual orientation alone. When he fell for Jae, he didn't know much about it, only that he feels strongly about the dhampir and it wasn't until the latter kissed him that he realized he wanted more than just a friendship with him. It was not intended but that's the beauty of life. It helped that his parents raised him up to be a good boy, never really imposing any restriction on the male while they took care of him even if it was brief. "I do like the sound of you being gay for me 1000 times over, yes" he chuckled, "There you go, there's the smile I love." If he had to recite an entire page of how much he adores the dhampir just to make him smile, Han was sure he would do that too. Thankfully, the Celestial had mastered the art of curving Jae's lips into a smile. And he loves the fact that he could, of course.
"It's just hair, baby" he cooed teasingly and tried to ruffle it again but decided against it when Jae attempted to flick them back to its original position. "Guess we're both good for each other, just what we really needed" In Han's view, he didn't need someone perfect, even if the fallen star would often say the dhampir is perfect in every way possible. Jae gave him plenty of opportunities to learn and he wouldn't want to trade what they have for anything else. "I'll always love you, Jae. I'll always believe in you" he reassured softly, his thumb brushing against his knuckles as he beamed gently. "Well at least you didn't regret it, that's all that really matters actually. That kiss triggered a chain of events for me, baby" He didn't know how love worked but after that kiss, he knew he went back home with his heart pumping like hell, research was basically on his mind after that.
"Mhmm, I think I'll end up bundling myself when we go there but the scenery is so pretty. It's also a fresh setting" Han likes nature, a lot. He would've gone camping if he knew he had time too. "I thought you'd never ask" he smirked wryly when Jae suggested camping, "Should I worry about you being so near the fire though? No offense babe, but I don't want you to be a walking fiery disaster by the end of the night, literally." Maybe he'll modify a few things in the plan. "We can go paragliding too, I'm feeling adventurous and I'm sure you can write a lot about our trip in your head... " He wanted to go hiking too but he had a feeling neither will end up to the top. "I just wanna enjoy doing something with you, even if it meant building a tree house. Do you want one?"
Jae had to chuckle softly, the way society was, made things complicated at times but what was simple was that he had strong feelings for Han and that they never seemed to go away no matter how many times someone made a bad comment or looked at them strangely. He was happy with Han and that was what mattered most. “You know if never even occurred to me that I might be until I met you” he responded with a sheepish smile “I mean I knew that I wasn’t exactly the most...sexually forward person, but I’d never looked at a man and thought that I’d want to be with him” which made Jae likely fall somewhere into the demisexuality scale no doubt, because it was important to him to feel close and familiar with the person he felt an attraction to.
Jae gave him a playful glare when he tried to mess his hair up again “It’s just hair that I like to keep neat so I don’t have to restyle it again every time I need to go out” he laughed softly, it had a mind of its own sometimes he swore. Jae looked down to their joined hands and allowed a soft, happy smile to cross his lips, he did enjoy the reassurance that Han always offered him, reminding him that he was loved and cared for every day “I’m sure you’d say there was some kind of destiny at work in there” he jested because he knew how much Han believed in destiny and the idea of things happening for a reason “and I’ll always love you” he responded in a soft voice. Talking about their first kiss was pretty nostalgic for him and made him chuckle “The only thing that scared me was that I might ruin the friendship we already had” which was saying a lot considering there were many other things he could have been scared of.
The thought of being able to go on trips together and experience things like that together was an exciting thought for him because he’d never really gotten to go anywhere and while he was very happy here in Evermore, he did dream of being able to see more “I think it would feel very different from being in a city, there’s a lot of open spaces and nature there” he nodded thoughtfully “I heard that you can even get helicopter rides up into the mountains” they didn’t have that here in Evermore unless you were willing to hire a plane privately. Jae laughed wrinkling his nose when Han commented about him being dangerous near a fire “Oh come on Han, I’m not that bad” he gave him a pointed look and shook his head “Besides you have to let me near the fire so we can make smores together” he nodded a few times.
It seemed like both of them had a whole list of things they wanted to experience and that made him happy because it gave him a good view of what they would do in their future “I’d love to go to a concert, maybe for one of those kpop groups you like” they often listened to it while they were hanging out in the lounge or when they were both working on their studies. As for a treehouse that did sound like a lot of fun “So you’d trust me with a saw but a fire is a hard no?” he jested with a wry smile.
He was glad that they were no longer rendered speechless whenever someone would give them a backhanded comment or jeering looks, it didn’t matter anymore. Once upon a time ago, Han would feel guilty for being the reason why people did that. Not anymore. He grew up, better than usual, especially with Jae helping him with this journey. He didn’t mind the dirty looks people gave them, so long as Jae wasn’t as affected and they remained unbothered as well as happy. “I imagine you were pretty much attracted to girls before me, huh? Then there’s me… who um… never actually got himself a chance to explore” he rubbed the back of his head awkwardly and spared a sheepish grin, it was embarrassing when he thought about it. “I didn’t know if I had any feelings for others, that night when you kissed me, that confirmed my feelings for you simply because I didn’t want you to stop kissing me. Even if I didn’t really respond to it very well.” Technically, Han was under shock and it was really his first kiss. He definitely managed to explore his sexuality a tad better after he got comfortable with Jae.
It made him feel at ease because things weren’t so hard anymore. “You don’t wanna give it a cut? It’s growing pretty long, or are you suggesting a man bun? Oooh” he never pictured it on the dhampir but the Celestial was definitely eager to get on board to see how that turns out. “I think you’d look good in anything but I have to say, you with longer hair never crossed my mind” now it has and Han could not stop picturing how fluffy his hair is, especially when his fingers are threading against the locks gently. Jae likes to try out new things, he knew that, it wasn't surprising to see the dhampir sporting another colored look. It made Jae feel confident so Han wasn't one to rain on his parade on that. Besides, the Celestial might not have the same flexibility when it comes to experimenting on his physical appearance like Jae due to his work, but he likes to see it come to life. "You're not wrong, I'd still say there's something related to destiny in the works because who knows?" With how his life is currently going, it was hard for him not to think it was something the world had in store for them. It's not impossible, he's a literal fallen star, if he didn't believe in destiny and fate, then what can he believe in?
"You weren't alone in that honestly, I didn't know what I was feeling, I was practically an immature little kid who knew little of the world but I knew there was no room for regrets then. I'd rather think about that than lamenting on the possibilities." So yes, he was glad he kissed him back that day. The thought of being able to spend some time away from work and technology excites him, he never had the chance to go camping, "We're gonna go camping one day, maybe some time away from the bustling streets of the city would do us some good. I know I'd be fine spending my quality time with you anywhere though, even if it meant locking the doors in our home so Byul and Yeontan won't be able to steal our attention away for 24 hours." Now that seemed too good to be true unless Han was willing to send the two for boarding service, which he really didn't like doing. "Maybe the worst that could happen is you burning your smores…" he teased, "Alright, I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt, you can't be that bad, no?" He hoped to be proven right. The last thing he wanted to do is try to put the fire off his clumsy lovable partner.
"You lived in Korea your entire life, don't tell me you haven't been to a kpop concert before? Wouldn't it be fun to be where their homeland is at? I wanted to visit Korea again… maybe have a road trip to Busan and other states." A small blush crept when Jae called him out on his earlier statement, "I mean… losing a limb is easier than putting out a fire? You're a dhampir, you'll heal. Now for you to heal from those burning wounds, the fire needs to be out first so… lesser of two evils?"
Jae lifted his gaze and smiled a little when Han asked if he was attracted to girls before him “I guess so, I never really felt the same as the other guys I was friends with though, it was all they ever talked about” he shrugged “I mean sure I thought the girls were pretty but it didn’t mean I wanted to…” he trailed off and cleared his throat, he was sure Han got the idea of what he was trying to say. Jae pressed his lips together when Han said he was unsure whether he shared feelings for others before they kissed “I just knew that I couldn’t stand the idea of losing you” he responded in a soft voice, nodding slightly a few times “And then I felt myself pulling you in and suddenly it all clicked for me...why I felt so frustrated at the thought of you being in danger.
Jae parted his lips and ran a hand through his locks when Han mentioned the length, he wasn’t wrong, it was getting pretty long and curly lately but he didn’t completely hate the way it looked “I’ll probably grow it out for a little and then cut it before summer, don’t want to get too hot” he spoke softly and twirled a strand around his finger absentmindedly while they talked “Well now you are thinking about it, what do you think, would it suit me?” he had a playful smile on his lips, Han tended to keep his hair neat for work because he didn’t want it to get in the way when he was treating the animals. Jae cocked a small smile when Han said he did think that destiny was in the works somewhere “If that’s the case, we must have done something really good in the past to get so lucky huh?” he offered a half-smile.
Jae smiled softly “We’ve grown up a lot in the past year huh?” they both had so much to learn since they came here, Jae was figuring out how to live his life away from the family who had raised him and figure out the path he wanted to follow and the person he was outside of his father’s shadow. Then there was Han who had been such a shy and distant person who had truly come out of his shell and let so many people in since there, it was hard to remember the people they were before because they had grown so much. Jae laughed when Han said he wanted to lock the dogs out and just spend 24 hours together “I’d give it 3 hours before you give in to their begging and let them come and cuddle” he responded and nudged against Han before eating some more of the food. Smiling between mouthfuls as they talked about camping.
“If the worst that can happen is a slightly burned marshmallow I say that’s a risk worth taking” he responded with a half-smile as he cleared his plate slowly of the food, savoring each taste because it was so good and honestly reminded him so much of home “This is so good” he complimented to Han and then grinned sheepishly when he asked if he had been to a kpop concert before “Well I’ve seen some of the free showcases they did in Seoul but never a stadium concert” he confessed with a slightly guilty look “It would be a lot of fun but….” he bit his lip slightly “My father would have me dragged home if he knew I was back in Seoul” he admitted with a slight sigh.
“Sexuality is such a weird topic to talk about, I mean is it just me? Admittedly, I had no idea how to even comprehend all of that. When I fell down to earth, I was already grown like this.” And he had no past memories, except his name and what he is. Though, the whole glowing part did freak him out a few times in past instances. He could never get used to his supernatural identity but after a while, Han learned not to question a few things. He did blush briefly when Jae admitted he found the girls pretty but not to the extent where he wanted to sleep with them. He met his eyes upon hearing that he couldn’t stand the thought of losing him, the Celestial’s eyes softened considerably as he smiled, “I don’t think I would’ve been able to escape from the wailing parts in my body if I ever lost you. You were already a good friend to me by then and you treated me so well.” It was true, nobody has ever treated Hanseol the way Jae treated him. The dhampir was able to care for him as if he was as fragile as a glass but also give him room for his independence. It was refreshing to see that kind of respect.
“I can still recall the day you saved me at the clinic, you know” he mumbled silently, it wasn’t a memory he could easily forget since it cemented Jae’s importance in his life and how he shouldn’t be complacent when being cautious of his surroundings because at the end of the day, he is still a Celestial. “Rocking a mullet” he shook his head with a wry grin, it was no hiding the fact that Jae is one attractive guy and Han being Han would relentlessly agree anything looks good on him. When asked if it would suit him, he chuckled and made a thoughtful face, eyeing him up and down before leaning to his side to make it seem as if he was really analysing his face, “I mean you already know I would tell you can look good in anything, maybe except bald because that’s a hard look to picture.” He leaned forward and wrapped his hands on his dark locks, pulling it up as if he was trying to see how he looks in a man bun, “Not bad. With that leather jacket… hot damn.” He patted both his cheeks with a sheepish grin before returning to his seat, god knows how much the Celestial likes to talk about destiny and fate. Then again, he is a fallen star and Jae is half Valkyr half human, what’s not normal for them anymore?
“I wonder if we were also together in our previous lives... Did I meet you? Or did you trip over me again? Did we love each other the way we do now?” Jae looked so much more mature than the first time they met and ever since then, he was sure the things they went through the past year was enough to last them a few more years under the road. They survived a breakup, they could survive anything, right? There was still the problem with Jae’s family and Han wanted so badly to help him go through it but all he could do is be there for the dhampir when he needed him. It’s best to keep family matters within the circle anyway. He is positive that not even Eun would like to know he’s involving himself in this matter. “I don’t like the way you’re calling me out, mister” he scoffed and shook his head, wagging his index finger as if he was reprimanding the other male sitting with him, “I can be stern and strict when I want to be, you know that” though it didn’t take him long to drag his words and sound a bit whiny. “I’d last longer than 6 hours at least… not 3.”
The idea of camping is really climbing up the list, he could already picture Jae burning his own marshmallow, “Better a burnt marshmallow than a burnt dhampir I guess. Even if you’re smoking hot, it doesn’t neutralize the heat of the fire, baby” he teased and scraped every leftover bit on his plate. “I wonder where the best camping spot would be. Not in the woods here obviously, I love Evermore but the last thing I want to do is camp where therians can jump and eat me and say ooops.” Han watched a lot of movies. He’s not the best cooker but he was glad he could get rid of the homesickness a bit from Jae. “You’re welcome.” He was already done with his food by the time he heard Jae express his disappointment about not being able to go back home, he was aware of his mother’s condition, “If you wanna go back home to visit, we can be discreet. I know a little bit about that in my experience. I’m sure Eun would keep it a secret too. She’s your mother, Jae, you have every right to want to see her and your father shouldn’t keep you away from it just because you said no to his decisions.”
Jae smiled softly as he looked back at Han “I guess it’s not for you because you’ve never experienced the stigma against it” he was a little jealous of Han in that respect, he had never had to feel for a single moment that the way he was feeling was wrong, for Jae it was very different, he was instilled with these ideas about the man he was supposed to be by his father when he was young and discovering his reality was different had been challenging “Everything makes sense now though” he responded, nodding his head a few times, Jae was sure if a girl had come along and connected with him the way he did Han he would have been happy the other way too “I think my...attraction, it comes from being close with someone” that explained it best in his mind anyway. Jae smiled sweetly when Han said he didn’t know what he would do if he ever lost him “Well you won’t have to find out” he responded and nodded “You triggered the overprotective side of me” he responded in a shy voice.
“I remember just this overwhelming feeling of needing to make sure you were okay” he spoke softly, Jae didn’t really save Han, if anything he got himself hurt and worried him and yet that had been the trigger for Jae to start his studies in dhampir training again, he had gotten stronger and smarter since then and he felt more confident in his ability to take care of him “Look how far we’ve come since then, you never even knew how to summon your magic and now you’re able to make shields and throw me across the room in training” he chuckled softly, no hard feelings, they liked to train together sometimes. Jae arched a brow at the thought of being bald, giving Han a curious look when he pulled his hair back as though he was going to tie it up and the expressing his like for it “So the longer hair is approved huh?” Jae hadn’t dyed his hair in a while so it had grown out quite nicely “I kinda miss having bright hair” he commented and pouted slightly, maybe it was time to break the dyeing streak.
Jae couldn’t help but smile at the idea of them knowing one another in a previous life, he wasn’t sure what he believed in when it came to all that but the idea that he had fallen in love with Han in another life was kinda beautiful “Oh I definitely tripped over you again, let’s be real, not even reincarnation could get rid of my clumsy streak” he teased with an amused smile “I love that you’re such a hopeless romantic, thinking about us in another life” Han had this really creative and wide imagination which definitely inspired Jae a lot and often gave him a lot of ideas for his writing. He grinned a little at the way Han got defensive about his own ability to shut out the dogs, Jae knew he would give in because they were basically like Han’s children, even Yeontan who was technically now Jae’s but still looked at Han like the leader of the pack “No one could really blame you for giving in, I mean have you seen them, saying no is almost impossible” he shook his head playfully.
Jae laughed softly “I don’t purposely try to set myself on fire you know” he scolded with a shake of his head, he was just really prone to accidents and that always seemed to flair up whenever he was around anything remotely dangerous “I heard you can camp near the beach, pitch up a tent in the greenlands and then take long walks down the coast” if they went there they could bring the dogs and take them swimming in the ocean which sounded kinda romantic and not as terrifying as camping in the woods and becoming therianthrope food. “Don’t let Leigh hear you bad mouthing his kind” he teased with a grin, he had met the kitsune a couple of times through Eun and he didn’t seem like the type who would hurt anyone. Jae finished up his food before setting his cutlery down on the plate and smiled softly at Han “I’m not sure I’m willing to take the risk” he spoke softly “Han you have no idea how controlling he is, the people he knows, the lengths he would go to” he sighed softly, that was why he was so scared to tell him the truth, he was afraid of what he might do to Han.
When the dhampir told him that his attraction came from being close with someone, he couldn’t wipe the ever-growing stupid grin off his face, “So you’re saying you’re close with me, got it” he quipped teasingly and nudged him, it might sounded like a simple sentence but to the fallen star, it meant everything. Insecurity is a fatal flaw most people suffer from, and though he has been considered lucky this while, unfortunately, he wasn’t excluded from it. “You do the same to me, even though I’m not this warrior, I still feel tempted to protect you when I know you are more than capable of taking care of yourself. You still need someone to keep an eye out for you even if you’re the strongest person in the world, right?” Han felt like it was imperative to at least have one person who would look out for you. In his case, he had a few, the closest being his own boyfriend. “But for all that’s worth, you can protect me any day, Jae” he cooed and sent him a flirtatious wink, “I don’t mind being taken care of. Or babied, even.”
There were not a lot of things he wouldn’t mind doing if it was for the dhampir but that was just the Celestial being completely besotted by him. His cheeks flushed slightly when Jae mentioned he could throw him across the room, now physically, he wouldn’t be able to do that unless Jae allows him to or didn’t utilize his enhanced dhampir strength, but in reality Han was only able to do that using his Celestial energy that seemed to be improving day by day. “I didn’t throw you across the room that hard… though” he fiddled with his fingers absentmindedly and cleared his throat awkwardly. Admittedly his ability to wield the energy freaked him out every once in a while but the other male would often have him sit down and assure him it’s the process of learning and mistakes were bound to be there.
When Jae pulled his hair back and imitated a tied up ponytail, his eyes lit up, before long the Celestial was already nodding in approval, “Yes please.” Now that he thought about it, it has been a while since his boyfriend sported a light colored hair color, which was out of the ordinary considering how experimental he could be. “And why is that, I wonder? Run out of colors to try? Or your hair begged you to stop?” He is a hopeless romantic. There wasn’t a moment where Han didn’t think of them meeting somewhere else. “I couldn’t recall any memories of my previous life so who knows? Maybe I did know you in my last one and I fell in love with you… again.” He can't say no to them, he's right. “Nobody tries to purposely set themselves on fire in general, baby” he exclaimed dryly and shook his head, one of these days he might suffer a sudden heart attack when it comes to Jae.
The idea of doing all those activities had the Celestial diving back to his cloud nine, picturing a few scenarios he could see happening. “Pssh, please… the one who would be more likely to get offended and kick my ass is Eun, your brother, and not Leigh. We both know our resident mister softy wouldn’t even hurt a fly voluntarily so… yeah. But yes, I would like to minimize the risks of being chased down by the eldest Moon.” You know what they say, the calmest are usually the scariest. “God knows how Eun would be like if he’s mad…” even the mere thought of it alone had him shuddering. Just as Jae placed his cutlery down upon finishing his meal, Han did the same but let out a heavy sigh afterwards, “Then when will you be able to go back? Jae, are you to live your life in exile forever?” He felt sad for him. This was the last living arrangement he would want for the dhampir. “Aside from him being your father, the head of the family and all… are you scared of him because of something else? What would he hold against you?” He was genuinely curious to know.
Seeing the way Han lit up like that when he spoke about how he saw his own attraction made the dhampir a little shy, averting his gaze and smiling softly “I’m saying you’re the first person I felt close enough to, to realize I wanted to be close with them for...a very long time” he nodded a few times, the urge to kiss Han hadn’t been something constantly on his mind, it was more in the form of knowing he didn’t want to let the star go and couldn’t stand the idea of someone else being closer to him. Jae nodded slightly when Han said he wanted to protect him too “Everyone needs protection sometimes, whether it be from threats out there or even from themselves” he looked up at Han and smiled, on their worst days they had learned how to be there for one another, the little things they could do to cheer on another up and make it just the tiniest bit better. “I know” he commented with a soft tone to his voice “You radiate baby energy sometimes, people want to take care of you” he noticed the same pattern with how Yeon treated Han.
Jae laughed when Han backtracked on what happened and seemed guilty for how strong he had gotten “It’s not a bad thing Han, it means you have it under control, which is so different to the way it was when we met” he was proud and you could hear it in Jae’s voice, he had wanted to get stronger but he had always wanted Han to get stronger too, so that he would feel safe and happy. He felt like he had seen some broken parts in Han heal within the time they had spent together and it was uplifting to know he might have been a small part in helping. “Tell that to the headache I had afterward” he chuckled under his breath “But I got you back enough times, so we can call it even” he responded with a wry smile, they had to be a little rough to make the training real but if anyone got seriously hurt then it would end immediately, they knew that, there was a silent understanding.
Jae grinned when he saw the way Han reacted to him tying his hair back, honestly it felt strange to him but if the star liked it then he wouldn’t cast the idea aside “Well I did try most colors already but it was mostly to answer my hair’s prayers for a break” he commented with a chuckle “I did get some new curlers though, I might try and see if I can make it wavy” hey if he couldn’t change the color he could try changing other things right? There was something touching about the way Han believed in destiny and the idea of reincarnation, it wasn’t the first time he had explained his thoughts about how he believed in soulmates and it made Jae feel special knowing he believed the dhampir was his “You make it all sound so poetic” he commented with a soft voice “What makes you so sure that things like that exist?” perhaps he wondered if there was a certain philosophy behind his beliefs.
Jae chuckled when Han pointed out it was more likely Eun who would tell Han off for insulting Leigh’s kind “Well you know how it is, Leigh gets upset by anything and he will do anything to make it right” his brother really was deep for the kitsune and honestly, Jae was really happy for them, Eun deserved to know happiness. Even if it made things more complicated for their situation back home, how could he ever tell him not to be happy. “He really is scary when he’s mad...it happens rarely but when it does” he shuddered a little and shook his head “I think he saves up his rage for when it really matters” he remembered his brother always being calm when he was younger, always the one who never seemed affected by his father’s yelling or stern comments. “Is it really exile if I’m with you?” he responded in a soft voice, Jae never wanted to risk what he had with Han. He bit his lip when Han asked him what he was afraid of “He has influence over people, it wouldn’t just be him I lose...it might be my mother...or my brother” Hyunsik still did as he was told after all.
“And I’m scared he might try to twist things...he doesn’t like losing control” perhaps he was scared he might even try to hurt Han to get what he wanted. But Jae didn’t want to say that out loud. He got to his feet and held his hands out towards Han to pull him up "I don't want anything to come between us" he spoke softly as he looked into his eyes.
They could have dated for a year and Han will never truly get over how shy Jae makes an appearance to double strike his own heart. The dhampir could still get shy at his compliments and the Celestial is the same. They keep learning new things about each other so it was hard not to be intrigued. The idea of a very long time was very tempting and definitely appealing. "I never even thought about feelings that much until you… after you kissed me, it was pretty much just me trying to figure out what this strong feeling I have towards you was… it was confusing because I've never actually fallen in love romantically before. But it made sense" Of course it did. That's why they're still here together. Even though they broke up once. It only served him as a reminder that trust comes in very important and he should be open to his partner or else things will be very complicated. He learned his lesson once and promised to not do it again.
"I'm glad you get to be my protector then. You know me, fragile star and all that" he jested, no matter how strong he gets, there was this bitter feeling inside him that knows at the end of the day, he was still on the chain to be hunted by selfish people who wanted their energy. That doesn't seem like it would change anytime soon which was unfortunate. He chuckled when Jae told him he radiated baby energy, "Baby energy? Now where did you find that phrase hm?" he raised his eyebrows playfully as he narrowed his eyes towards the dhampir, where was the lie though? Han can behave like that sometimes, but it does mean people feel like they wanted to protect him which should be something good. He wouldn't lie, at first he was a bit insecure on his own physical strength, Han was really invested in the idea of being able to defend himself should another attack occur, he couldn't take any chances anymore, he has been attacked at least three times in the same city and it's not going to look like a coincidence if a fourth comes along. But when he threw Jae around like that, he wondered how much it hurts.
"You sound like you're proud of me" he pointed out wryly, it does make him happy to know that. "Oh you definitely got back at me" Even he couldn't deny the strength the dhampir possessed and that was nowhere near half of it, he was sure of it. If Jae wanted to pummel him, he definitely could do so without even sparing him a glance. "Well like you said, you dyed your hair a lot and I imagine your scalp said please no" he really did like it when Jae would often surprise him with another colored look, it was refreshing. Not to mention, his boyfriend rocked all the looks. "You wanna go for curls next? Interesting choice…" Just because you couldn't dye your hair another color, doesn't mean you couldn't try and style it differently, right? As expected, Jae is very experimental. When asked what makes him think all of that existed, Han shrugged absentmindedly, "I'm a fallen star baby, if that's possible then a lot of things are possible. I learn to believe in fate and destiny because for the longest of time, it's the only thing I could cling to. The idea of the red string of fate doesn't seem too far fetched."
It didn't really sound logical to others but Han really believed in it. Soulmates were real to him. "And not all soulmates end up in romantic love. Some came with platonic love." He likes Leigh, when he first met the kitsune at Winterfest, where he came alongside Eun, he knew those two were gonna end up together before long and he was glad to find out things were doing great between them. "The theory that the calmest people are usually the scariest when angry… calm before the storm totally came from them." He didn't doubt Jae's statement, Eun looked like he could be quite the person when he's pissed. His eyes softened considerably when Jae said that, "If you're fine with it, if you think being with me is worth it, then… I'll try my best to make your 'exile' comfortable." He disliked the idea that his father would turn everyone Jae cared for against him, it was cruel. "Your mother couldn't possibly be against you… or your brother…" at least that's what he would like to think. "We will survive this again, Jae… we have been through a lot and I can tell you it made us stronger every time" he reassured and pressed a soft kiss to his cheek. "Come on, help me clean up and then we can play some video games. I still need to show you who's the loser."
