Curious about Caleb Segal
Octavia Ivakov was born the eldest of the Ivakov children amidst a great war between the Dragonkin and the Nephilim. The young Nephilim was thrown from her childhood to having to mature from a very young age as her family and those around her were in constant threat from those around them, Octavia’s parents were raised Dragonkin hunters making their family a target for kill on sight from the Dragonkin. Octavia and her younger sister Aurelia were taught how to defend and offend from a young age and each chose their weapon of choice as soon as they were able to properly wield one. Octavia’s weapon of choice was a bo-staff which was able to be split into two where she required it, she also learned from a young age to practice in her ability to cause pain just by using her mind and was forced to use it several times throughout her young life.
Octavia and Aurelia were extremely close growing up and often shared tips and techniques with one another, they protected each other and they kept each other’s best interests at heart. They both dreamed of someday being able to get their wings and to be able to fly into the sky, they dreamed of someday becoming immortal. Octavia was a child full of dreams and ambition, she cared for others and she knew that more than anything she wanted to help others when she grew older.
Octavia’s dreams were shattered, when she was 14 her sister was kidnapped by the Dragonkin and taken away from her, her body was never seen but the amount of blood found at the scene didn’t look promising for the young Nephilim, Octavia was broken inside, like a part of her heart had cracked into two, she was furious and all she wanted was to see the Dragonkin pay for what they had done to her sister and to her family, she couldn’t understand how any person could be so cruel as to take a child from their family. Instead of sinking to despair Octavia became stronger from the loss of her sister, she chose to push away the pain because it hurt too much to think about it and instead the young teen focused her attention on the enemies, at 15 she killed her first Dragonkin at the hands of a serrated dagger and she grew her wings and she knew that would mean as she grew older she would eventually stop aging and become immortal the same way that all others who had killed a Dragonkin had. The sad truth was that Octavia felt little remorse for the Dragonkin she had killed, to her they were all evil and they all were responsible for what had happened to her sister.
As Octavia grew older it became apparent that she had very little she feared, she had been one to dive into any situation that could get her killed and somehow she always found her way out alive, she was even nicknamed “Intrepidus” because nothing seemed to scare her, some rumoured that she was heartless but that wasn’t true, Octavia did what she did to protect others from having to suffer the same pain she had to go through when she lost her sister, the pain of having someone rip someone you care about from your life. When Octavia heard of the Dragonkin invading in the South it had been easy for her to make the decision to leave home to follow them, fighting was the only thing she was good at anymore and now that she was over the age of 18 she had no obligation to stay, so she said a tearful farewell to her family and then she left.
Octavia along with several other Nephilim worked to hold off the Dragonkin from their homeland, though it wasn’t without casualty and over the years she found those around her slowly taken from her and somehow she still carried on, she knew part of it had to be luck but with fewer and fewer Nephilim around to fight with her she knew it would only be a short amount of time before her luck began to fail her and then she would be in real danger. Octavia had planned to head back home where she was ambushed by two Dragonkin, she was alone and though she could hold one back using her mind the other she was almost powerless to stop, Dragonkin were fast and that meant that the young Nephilim struggled to stop his advances and when he knocked her to the ground she knew that she wasn’t going to get out of there alive.
That was until the wall of fire had appeared between her and the Dragonkin causing them to flee the scene, in her shock Octavia had looked up to meet the eyes of of a Phoenix who named himself Vladimir Dimitreu, the name was familiar somehow and yet she couldn’t place where she had heard and despite her annoyance at needing to be saved, she had taken his hand when he offered it raising to her feet. Vladimir had explained how he was a member of a secret organization whom were tasked with ridding the world of imbalance, it seemed that the Dragonkin had been on their hitlist for a long time too and suddenly Octavia’s determination for a cause was sparked once again, she followed Vladimir back to the Isle of Skye and once she had entered the Isle she pledged her allegiance to the Ailward council, she hadn’t needed to worry about the barrier that surrounded the Isle, all she ever wanted to do was protect people and that was exactly what the guard’s goal was.
Vladimir and Octavia served many an assignment together and eventually managed to almost entirely stop the Dragonkin from being able to do any further damage to world, from day one they had made a surprisingly good team despite all of their differences. It took many years for them to admit that they had fallen for each other, Octavia was stubborn and refused to admit that she needed him in her life. With time the two came to date and eventually were engaged and married by Venetus, Argent gifted them both with amulets as their wedding present, they allowed the two to speak with one another through their minds for as long as they both wore them.
During her time as a guard she had picked up clues from those she sought out and she eventually came to learn that her sister Aurelia may still be alive, Octavia shared her information with the Ailward council who gave the order for the guard to issue a search assignment for the missing Aurelia. Octavia and Aurelia were reunited after 200 years of being apart when Octavia found her sister who had been through her own kind of hell and started her life over again, time had been painful for Aurelia and she was no longer a Nephilim as she was born but instead a vampire, Octavia didn’t care that he sister needed human blood to survive, she was simply happy to have her sister back and for once she felt as if her life was complete again, especially when Aurelia swore her oath to the guard and made a pledge to stay and serve them as Octavia had.
Octavia and Vladimir later had a daughter together whom they named Illiana, she was born a Nephilim and was the spitting image of a younger version of her mother, Illiana was raised on the Isle of Skye but she was regularly allowed to leave and to explore the world with her parents and her half brother. Octavia also legally adopted her step son Gabriel who was born through Vladimir’s previous marriage, despite not being his real mother, Octavia has always considered Gabriel a son and cares for him just as much as she does for her real daughter.
Caleb was someone Octavia never expected to let get under her skin but piece by piece he found his way into her heart. She isn't sure exactly how to define it but she does know he's special and that makes her want to hold on to him. He's something more simple in a complicated world.
Thea is Octavia's first born and only daughter. The two of them have always had a close relationship and share the same resilient spirit which they inherited from their family. There is nothing Octavia wouldn't do to care for her children and she loves them more than life itself.
Despite not being Gabriel's biological mother, Octavia has always treated him as her own son and cares for him as though he is her own. Octavia learned what it means to be a mother by being there for Gabriel and she loves him very much. He reminds her a lot of her late husband.
Aurelia and Octavia have been through a long journey together and while the two of them don't always see eye to her, her sister is always important to her. Octavia sometimes feels guilt for not being able to save her sooner and the fact she had to go through the change to valkyr.
After her husband was killed in action, Octavia returned to the guard to re-find some purpose in her life. She found some of that in Malva, someone who has always been a daughter type figure to her and someone she protects at all costs. Becoming her personal guard made sense and was an honor.
Octavia has always had a sense of mutual respect for Vlad's brother, his sense of honor and how compassionate and kind he is always stands out to her. Since losing Vlad the two of them have gotten closer while remembering the person they lost and finding a way to move forward from it.
Octavia has never been especially close with her niece but had the privilege of watching her grow up and become an esteemed guard in her own right. Octavia is always there for Iris if she needs any advice and respects her ability to understand the modern world better than everyone else.
Octavia has always been close with Tia ever since she came to the guard, the two of them just always clicked and were close since. Tavia can always rely on Tia to keep it real with her and tell her the things she might not want to hear. She respects the aspect of elements greatly.

// Thanks for the patience in waiting like six days for my last two replies. I'm just starting back at school and had to slow down, but I'll be doing my best to work them back into my routine. Hopefully this one was worth it! Loving the thread so far. ^_^
